Sex Toys are Sweeping the Nation

According to a recent article in the New York Times, sex toys are here to stay. For some of us, sex toys have been popular for quite some time, but the fact that they’re becoming mainstream is a good sign. It means that America’s starting to open up about its sexuality — finally!

In a recent survey of 2,056 women and 1,047 men (93 percent of which reported to be heterosexual), 53 percent of the women and almost half of the men reported having used a vibrator. And 81 percent of the women and 91 percent of the men reported having shared the vibrator with a sexual partner. Basically, what was once condemned as a sinful masturbatory toy has become a popular household item for all sexes involved. Although the baby boomer generation was the first to openly experiment with sex toys, newer generations have expanded the use of sex toys into something that’s widely accepted, even commonplace.

In fact, vibrator sales are up 20 percent from last year. One way companies reach their audience is by hiring women — just like representatives from Mary Kay or Arbonne — to host sex toy parties in America’s suburbs. Another way they gain customers is online. While Lingerie Diva offers lingerie and some fun accessories, I recommend checking out The Romantic Spark for some enjoyable sex toys, whether you’re a longtime fan or just now catching onto the trend! You can purchase the one above for only $16.75!

Slips Will Keep You Cool This Summer

As July approaches, it’s time to start taking those clothes off — not literally — but you need to think about wearing lighter-weight clothes. Wearing a slip is the perfect place to start. While some think the slip should only be used as an undergarment, doing so has actually become outdated. I can’t think of anyone that still wears a slip under their clothes. The only time I ever wear one is to bed or out as a dress. And as those temperatures begin to rise, I recommend wearing one out.

A slip is basically a dress anyways, so treat it just like that. Add some heels, jewelry and maybe even a belt, and you have a whole outfit. If the slip you’re trying to use is actually too provocative, just layer it with another one to get rid of that see-through look. No matter what people think, a slip is a cool way to dress up any occasion. I guarantee you’ll be thankful you did when you’re dancing to Justin Timberlake in a hot, sweaty nightclub. Here are some options that will help you beat that 90-degree heat:

Charmeuse Chemise by Shirley of Hollywood; $37.50

Pinstripe & Lace Babydoll Set by Seven ‘til Midnight; $25.49

Slip Style Halter Mini Dress by Elegant Moments; $18.49

Deal of the Week: Satin Corset w/ Ruffled Neckline

Pick up this sexy corset from Sensual Mystique this week for only $29.99. That’s a savings of $39.96! This is the first corset that’s been part of the deal of the week for a really long time, so if you’re in the mood for one I suggest getting this red one now before it’s too late. Otherwise, who knows when the next corset will go on sale? It comes with a metal front hook and eye closure and a lace-up back. The front closure makes it easy to put on, and therefore, just as easy to take off. Includes matching thong.

Bra Inspires Marriage ... Maybe

With divorce rates around 50%, it’s no wonder that people don’t immediately rush down the aisle to get married these days. But this bra concept from Triumph International sure encourages those wedding bells — literally — the bra plays “The Wedding March”. And that’s only part of it.

The Marriage-Hunting Bra is one of Triumph’s new concepts that they’re required to create every six months. Although it’s not for sale, it’s made to encourage people to get married. It comes with a light-up display, showing the number of days until the wearer’s ideal wedding date. As if that wasn’t intimidating enough, it also features pockets for a pen and an official stamp seal, needed when filling out a marriage license application. Whenever the wearer does get engaged, there’s a slot to place the ring in, and the infamous “Wedding March” chimes in.

The concept was inspired by recent statistics in Japan, indicating that 47 percent of men and 32 percent of women in their early 30s are unmarried. Ironically, I don’t think that wearing this device will help anyone get closer to that goal.

Cabbage Can Be Sexy Too

Tokyo fashion design student Sachino Kurozu must have appreciated vegetables as a child. Her lingerie design — meant to represent the “blooming beauty” of women — is inspired by leafy cabbage. This cabbage theme must have motivated the judges too because it was picked as this year’s winner at the Tokyo lingerie competition organized by Triumph. Kurozu will now get the chance to show her designs at the world competition in Milan this September. The winner receives a cash prize and the opportunity to sell their design as a commercial underwear set. A Japanese designer won last year, so we’ll see if Kurozu’s designs will bud into that kind of luck.
