Lingerie as Outerwear

From Fashionising.com

The last time we saw a shift towards lingerie as outerwear was the 1980s, and while I exude a general disdain for that decade I can't help but admit that certain fashion elements which emerged from it do have a place in this decade and the next. And so it is that we see various pieces of underwear return to the fore as outwear to feature amongst 2009 and 2010 fashion trends. And in many ways this may become one of the ubiquitous fashion trends; one that is transseasonal, and one that emerges as we pay fresh attention to tights and stockings as a feature piece, and not just an accessory, courtesy of the ripped stockings trend...

Random Lingerie Fact of the Week

In Merryville, Missouri, women are prohibited from wearing corsets because "the privilege of admiring the curvaceous, unencumbered body of a young woman should not be denied to the normal, red-blooded American male."

16 Years Old, Size 4, and "Too Big"?

Reality TV series “Australia’s Next Top Model” features a teen contestant kicked off of the catwalk for being “too big".

Ashlea Monigatti, 16, said she was "embarrassed" and shamed into eating salad after being excluded from a parade at the recent Australian Fashion Week in Sydney.

The schoolgirl, who has a 32.2-inch chest, a 24.9-inch waist, and 34-inch hips, said the decision was made by producers and stylists from Harper's Bazaar fashion magazine.

"I've never worried about my weight before, but I did when I arrived that day because the other girls were so skinny. It was a bit unfair because they didn't even let me try the clothes on ... they just looked at me and said I was too big," the teen said.

The show's model mentor Josh Flinn defended the program, saying: "This is not about negative body image, it's a show about finding the right person for the job. If anything, it's a realistic view of the industry."

It may be realistic, but that doesn't mean it's right. Here's another picture of the girl who was "too big":

WorlD-Cup

Our apologies for the horrible play on words there.

Lingerie model Larissa Riquelme had originally agreed to strip naked and run through the streets of her hometown should her native Paraguay win the FIFA World Cup of Soccer.

With Paraguay's elimination by Spain, thousands of her fans were heartbroken. However, she plans on going through with the stunt anyway.

'It will be a present to all of the players, and for all the people in Paraguay to enjoy,' she said. 'They tried as hard as possible and gave it their all on the field.

Wonder Woman to Lose Lingerie Look

From Carina Adly MacKenzie

After 69 years of running around in a bustier and hot pants, Wonder Woman is finally getting a change of clothes.

DC Comics has revised the Wonder Woman outfit that Lynda Carter rocked, and yes -- Wonder Woman will now be wearing pants.

In a time when Barbie Dolls' clothes are getting tinier and tinier, it's sort of refreshing to see the iconic superhero's clothes get less revealing.

The new ensemble, which includes a studded denim jacket, a red top, and liquid leggings that Lindsay Lohan would totally approve of, was designed by DC co-publisher and "X-Men" artist Jim Lee, who says that he wanted Wonder Woman to "look strong without screaming, 'I'm a superhero'" according to the New York Times.

Aside from the pants, the most notable change is the lack of traditional patriotic imagery. "The original costume was the American flag brought to life," Lee says. "This one is a little more universal.
